  • Our Story

Rooted in agriculture. Built around good food. Made for gathering.

Harvest House is a farm-rooted restaurant, bar, coffee shop, and gathering space in Friendsville, Maryland, born from our love of growing food, cooking, and bringing people together.

What started with a small family farm, a passion for agriculture, and a few trays of microgreens has grown into something much bigger. Today, Harvest House brings our farm directly to the table, with fresh microgreens and produce grown right here, local ingredients from farmers and makers we love, and a menu that changes with the seasons.

Our roots in agriculture run deep. We spent years living and working in Tanzania with the Peace Corps, where we learned to cook with what was available, appreciate the connection between food and community, and see just how much a meal can bring people together. Those experiences continue to shape the way we approach food today.

At Harvest House, you’ll find everything from brunch and dinner to craft cocktails, local beer, coffee, live music, special events, and plenty of reasons to stay awhile. Our on-site grow room gives you a glimpse into where some of your food begins, while our outdoor space invites you to slow down and enjoy the evening.

We stumbled into this dream, built it from the ground up, and are excited to share it with our community.

    Come hungry. Stay awhile.

  • What Are Microgreens?

A little more in depth on microgreens

Microgreens are young, edible plants harvested just after their first leaves develop. They’re not sprouts, and they’re not quite baby greens. Think of them as tiny versions of the plants we know and love, packed with flavor, color, and nutrients.

At Harvest House, we grow more than 15 varieties of microgreens, including broccoli, kale, cabbage, amaranth, beets, celery, red-veined sorrel, micro herbs, and edible flowers.

Most varieties go from seed to harvest in just 10 days to 3 weeks. We grow them in soil, harvest them by hand, and use the whole plant, roots and all, in our growing process.

Microgreens may be small, but they’re a fascinating part of agriculture. They’re quick to grow, require relatively little space, and allow us to grow fresh, vibrant plants year-round, right here at Harvest House.

    Our Microgreens

    Arugula
    Basil
    Broccoli
    Celery
    Cilantro
    Farmer's Blend
    Fennel
    Mustard
    Pea Shoots
    Red Cabbage
    Spicy Mix

“Pad kra pow was amazing and the bartender made me some sort of funky orange/chocolate drink. Great place to go if you’re into cocktails. Bartender was very knowledgeable, the glizzies were good with fresh ingredients and everything was reasonably priced. Very cool place (check out their micro green operation!) and we will definitely be back!”

    Aubrey M.

“Place is fantastic and the food is A+++. Food is excellent, super healthy, rewarding and very tasty for price. Better than any restaurant in the area!!”

    Ronald M.

“Had a great happy hour experience. They were slammed, so service was slow, but we understood, especially with it being new. Our drinks, and sausages were delicious. The only improvement would be to add some acoustic squares or similar to the ceiling to absorb some of the sound. We really struggled to hear each other over the loudness of the space. Hope a deck is added at some point because it would be lovely to sip outside and overlook the fields. Keep up the great work!”

    S. Lange

“A fantastic find in the area doing very interesting things with microgreens, stood out from the other restaurants in the area. Were very kind to us with our toddler. Delicious food!”

    Jason S.

“Really enjoyed our dinner! Great service and great food! Chicken caprese panini was fantastic! Awesome local beer selections on tap! Will definitely be back!”

    Ryan F.

“Fresh, flavorful, unique dishes. Love the micro-greens. Incredible cocktails. Fabulous service. Highly recommend!!!”

    Sheryl J.

“First experience was exceptional. We arrived early evening and sat outside on the back deck that had a cool view of the wild flower garden. Food and drink menu was unique and interesting. We ordered the corn salsa appetizer, the micro greens salad with steak, a hot dog and a brat. All the food was exceptional and very tasty. Drinks were unique. The owners were ever present and wanting to ensure a wonderful experience. Highest rating for the restaurant!”

    Aaron J.

“We are delighted to have discovered the Harvest House restaurant. Our meals were prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients made in house, and the flavors were exceptional. We look forward to returning in the future.”

    Renae

    Konstantin L.

“Drinks were over the top good! Pea Tendril Margarita -- so good! Capri salad was fresh and delicious; panini - yummy! Will definitely go back!”

    Linda

“I eat there a few months ago and it was pretty nice. I loved the decor. I kinda wish she was in a better location because it was at my bus stop. The time wouldn’t open and close is a little different but really good staff. It is an amazing place. If you are a vegetarian I highly suggest this place for you.”

    Sydney M.

“My husband and I finally tried this restaurant for the first time last night and absolutely loved it. They modified a dish to accommodate our vegan diets and it was so healthy and delicious. We loved their beer offerings as well, especially the sour! The atmosphere was lovely. We will definitely be back!”

    Jessica K.

“Amazing experience! Unique menu, cool cocktails, super friendly staff and owners! Had such a fun night, food and drinks were great, conversations even better - wish we lived closer!”

“Harvest House is an incredible spot in Friendsville. The craft cocktails garnished with house-grown microgreens are fantastic, and sitting on the back deck by the wildflower garden is perfect.

As a fellow Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, it’s awesome to see Darryl and Haeli doing such an amazing job with this place. You can really feel the community spirit they’ve poured into it. Go support a great RPCV-owned business!”

    Ryan S.

“We had an absolutely lovely time at the Harvest House. The food, service and atmosphere are top notch. We came for dinner with our pup and decided to come back to enjoy their brunch as well! I absolutely loved the Pollinator garden and their use of their edible flowers, micro greens in their food. Look forward to coming back for their fall menu updates.”

    Jen B.

“This place is an absolute win for anyone gluten-free!! I tried the caprese salad and a gluten-free chicken Bánh Mì Panini. The presentation was as beautiful as the taste was divine. The caprese salad was full of microgreens, fresh cut mozzarella, and topped with edible flowers! Gluten-free bread can be a turn off for me but they have found the perfect recipe and combined it with flavorful microgreens making every bite worthy of another! It’s rare to find a scratch kitchen in a rural area that is this sensitive to dietary restrictions. The flavors were bold and inventive.

Additionally, they have an open viewing room of their microgreens which can be purchased on site as well.

An added BONUS, the owners are phenomenal!! They firmly believe in a high quality food, environment, and atmosphere. They also are incredibly intelligent on the microgreens. Both Haeli and Darryl are teaching chefs and want to give you an amazing product AND teach you how to use it!”

    Shaina C.

“What a great addition to DCL! I go back every time I visit family in the area. I love the cocktails and food. The caprese salad, chicken rice bowl, and pomegranate cocktail are favorites! The microgreens add a unique fresh touch that is delicious and beautiful. Loved getting a tour and trying the variety of microgreens! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Excited to go back in the warmer weather and sit outside!”

    Rebecca W.

“Beautiful new renovation and a menu to complement the space! Each dish and cocktail features house grown micro greens and flowers. The pad krapow cocktail was one of the most unique Ive ever tried. Mocktails also were great with beer available on tap. 2oz of alcohol in each drink-- the extra price is worth the care and details/ingredients. Great place to bring the whole family. Coffee bar was not set up at the time I went but also is sure to be great.

Update 9.27.2025: had the opportunity to try brunch. Delicious bagel breakfast sandwiches, salad (super fresh and light), deviled eggs, and french toast. Coffee is also delicious, roasted in Baltimore from Threads Roasters. Great value will keep you wanting to try the next new item! Went back for dinner... Paninis, elote dip, and cocktails were great!

12/29/25- Pom & Balsam and Harvest Moon cocktails were great! P and B might be my new favorite. New food items tried included the beer salad, butternut squash soup, bahn mi panini l, and the Sriracha chicken bowl all of which were fantastic! The kids also liked their grilled cheese which came with chips and fruit.”

    Elliot G.

“If you’re looking for a great fresh and healthy meal then a trip to the Harvest is needed! The staff was VERY attentive, friendly and helpful. We had the harvest bowl with micro greens and the chagaccino. The micro greens are grown on sight and you can taste the freshness and flavor in each bite. We will be back!!”

    Momma M.

“An excellent place! Everything is delicious and beautifully presented. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and the service is fast—something you rarely find these days. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back!”

    Irina

“Amazing brunch with my son! Caprese Salad with microgreens was beyond fresh. His French toast with homemade whipped cream was sweet & satisfying. Staff were welcoming. It was such a treat to get a glimpse of their operations behind the scenes. Definitely recommend & cant wait to come back to try the dinner menu!”

    Lori W.

“Microgreens on everything!!! Wonderful! Fresh! And we got some to go. It’s a hidden gem! Enjoyed the Juniper cocktail. Hubby liked the elote dip and had it on his all beef frank. We almost did not go in because the front porch area was looking sketchy...a little unkempt/messy. But very glad that we did. The service was solid. Everyone was friendly. Inside was clean and well decorated.”

    Holly D.

“The place we initially wanted to go to was closed on the Fourth of July, so we ended up here and oh my goodness what a win. The people who work here are incredible and the service is impeccable. They make their own microgreens - and they are delicious. We got the micro green salad with over easy eggs, the French toast, and the deviled eggs. They were all the very best versions we have ever eaten! Don’t miss this spot!”

  • Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions (“Agreement”) set forth the general terms and conditions of your use of the meadowmountainmicros.com website (“Website” or “Service”) and any of its related products and services (collectively, “Services”). This Agreement is legally binding between you (“User”, “you” or “your”) and Meadow Mountain Microgreens (“Meadow Mountain Microgreens”, “we”, “us” or “our”). If you are entering into this agreement on behalf of a business or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind such entity to this agreement, in which case the terms “User”, “you” or “your” shall refer to such entity. If you do not have such authority, or if you do not agree with the terms of this agreement, you must not accept this agreement and may not access and use the Website and Services. By accessing and using the Website and Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. You acknowledge that this Agreement is a contract between you and Meadow Mountain Microgreens, even though it is electronic and is not physically signed by you, and it governs your use of the Website and Services.

    Accounts and Membership

If you create an account on the Website, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and you are fully responsible for all activities that occur under the account and any other actions taken in connection with it. We may, but have no obligation to, monitor and review new accounts before you may sign in and start using the Services. Providing false contact information of any kind may result in the termination of your account. You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized uses of your account or any other breaches of security. We will not be liable for any acts or omissions by you, including any damages of any kind incurred as a result of such acts or omissions. We may suspend, disable, or delete your account (or any part thereof) if we determine that you have violated any provision of this Agreement or that your conduct or content would tend to damage our reputation and goodwill. If we delete your account for the foregoing reasons, you may not re-register for our Services. We may block your email address and Internet protocol address to prevent further registration.

    Recordings

When a recording is made from live group coaching sessions, you acknowledge the fact that it will be posted inside the course curriculum.

    Billing and Payments

You shall pay all fees or charges to your account in accordance with the fees, charges, and billing terms in effect at the time a fee or charge is due and payable. Where Services are offered on a free trial basis, payment may be required after the free trial period ends, and not when you enter your billing details (which may be required prior to the commencement of the free trial period). If auto-renewal is enabled for the Services you have subscribed for, you will be charged automatically in accordance with the term you selected. If, in our judgment, your purchase constitutes a high-risk transaction, we will require you to provide us with a copy of your valid government-issued photo identification, and possibly a copy of a recent bank statement for the credit or debit card used for the purchase. We reserve the right to change products and product pricing at any time. We also reserve the right to refuse any order you place with us. We may, in our sole discretion, limit or cancel quantities purchased per person, per household or per order. These restrictions may include orders placed by or under the same customer account, the same credit card, and/or orders that use the same billing and/or shipping address. In the event that we make a change to or cancel an order, we may attempt to notify you by contacting the e-mail and/or billing address/phone number provided at the time the order was made.

    Accuracy of Information

Occasionally there may be information on the Website that contains typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions that may relate to promotions and offers. We reserve the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions, and to change or update information or cancel orders if any information on the Website or Services is inaccurate at any time without prior notice (including after you have submitted your order). We undertake no obligation to update, amend or clarify information on the Website including, without limitation, pricing information, except as required by law. No specified update or refresh date applied on the Website should be taken to indicate that all information on the Website or Services has been modified or updated.

Although the Website and Services may link to other resources (such as websites, mobile applications, etc.), we are not, directly or indirectly, implying any approval, association, sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation with any linked resource, unless specifically stated herein. Some of the links on the Website may be “affiliate links”. This means if you click on the link and purchase an item, Meadow Mountain Microgreens will receive an affiliate commission. We are not responsible for examining or evaluating, and we do not warrant the offerings of, any businesses or individuals or the content of their resources. We do not assume any responsibility or liability for the actions, products, services, and content of any other third parties. You should carefully review the legal statements and other conditions of use of any resource which you access through a link on the Website. Your linking to any other off-site resources is at your own risk.
