What Are Microgreens?
A little more in depth on microgreens
Microgreens are young, edible plants harvested just after their first leaves develop. They’re not sprouts, and they’re not quite baby greens. Think of them as tiny versions of the plants we know and love, packed with flavor, color, and nutrients.
At Harvest House, we grow more than 15 varieties of microgreens, including broccoli, kale, cabbage, amaranth, beets, celery, red-veined sorrel, micro herbs, and edible flowers.
Most varieties go from seed to harvest in just 10 days to 3 weeks. We grow them in soil, harvest them by hand, and use the whole plant, roots and all, in our growing process.
Microgreens may be small, but they’re a fascinating part of agriculture. They’re quick to grow, require relatively little space, and allow us to grow fresh, vibrant plants year-round, right here at Harvest House.
